Every now and then, while in the middle of my artistic endeavours, something clicks.
In May of 2008 I realised I wanted to be a portrait photographer.
I was in the middle of a studio shoot, a daunting prospect at the time.
During the shoot, I found out how fun photography could be. I saw in the model, everything I wanted to be myself. In two ways, she changed my life. She showed me what I could aspire to become, both socially, and career-wise.
I knew then that I wanted to be a photographer. And I knew I wouldn't let anyone tell me that I wasn't going to 'make it' as an artist anymore. I would become the happy, independent woman I could be, just like the young woman in front of me.
Sometimes we meet people in life that make us want to better ourselves. This lady is one of the most beautiful people I have ever met, still to this day. I still look back on this shoot and smile. It was one of the biggest turning points in my career as an artist, finding out how much I could enjoy photography, and wanting to become a photographer.
